Drop In Sinks
(also Called Countertop Sinks or Top Mount Sinks)
  
   

This style of sink features a finished edge or raised rim around the outside and can be dropped into any custom countertop.

  
       
    Advantages:
  • Most common type of sink (along with undermount sinks).
  • Simplest type of sink to install.
  
      Observation:
  • Called self-rimming when the entire rim is free (have no drain).
  • No talavera drop in sink is self-rimming, so the counter needs to be cut to the exact shape of the back part of the sink and the drain. You can contact us for further information if necessary.
  • Copper drop in sinks with the rim flat can also be installed as undermount sinks.
  

 

 
   
 
UN
   Undermount Sinks
(also called Undercounter Sinks or Recessed Sinks)		  
   

A style of bathroom sink that is positioned under the cutout of the countertop, undermount sinks are attached to the undersides of countertops, vanities, or console tables. The rim of the sink is covered by the countertop, so only the inside of the basin is visible.

  
       
    Advantages:
  • Most common type of sink (along with drop in sinks).
  • Offer a smooth profile with solid-surface countertops, making cleaning easy.
  • Can be installed in practically any type of counter.
 
      Observation:
  • All drop in sinks with flat rims can be installed as undermount sinks.
  • Additional installation hardware, which is easy to find at most plumbing or hardware stores, such as mounting clips and silicone, may be required to complete the installation.
  

 

 
   
    Vessel Sinks
(also called Above Counter Sinks or Top Counter Sinks)		  
   

A style of bathroom sink that is designed to sit on top of the counter and be completely exposed. The drain is level with the counter, and the edge of the bowl is far above the counter surface.

 
       
    Advantages:
  • As the most elegant form of bathroom sink today, vessel sinks give bathrooms a very elegant, unique look.
  • An excellent choice for making a design statement, since they rise above the countertop, console, or cabinet, creating a decorative focal point in any bathroom.
  • Easier than most sinks to replace.
  
 

 

   Observation:
  • Vessels sinks typically sit on top of a counter or furniture top that is slightly lower than most regular bathroom counters. They work well with wall-mounted or tall countertop-mounted faucets that provide adequate clearance above the rim of the sink.
  • Not recommended for children’s rooms.
  

 
 

 

 
   
    Inset Vessel Sinks  
   

A style of bathroom sink that is actually a hybrid of the drop in style and the vessel style, inset vessel sinks can be dropped into any custom countertop like a drop in sink, but kept partially exposed similar to a vessel sink.

  
       
    Advantages:
  • Give bathrooms a very elegant, unique look.
  • No talavera inset vessel sink is self-rimming, so the counter needs to be cut to the exact shape of the back part of the sink and the drain.
 
 

 

   Observation:
  • Talavera Inset Vessel sinks are no self-rimming so you need to cut the counter of the exact shape of the back part of the sink to include the drain.
 

 

 

 
   
    Tile In Sinks  
   

This approach is suitable for tiled counters and combines the advantages of the undermount and drop in style. You can tile your countertop all the way to the edge of the sink, and the tile installation will butt right up against it.

  
       
    Advantages:
  • Easy cleanup of the adjacent surfaces.
  • A nice solution for granite tile counters.
  
 

 

 

 

   Observation:
  • Drop in sinks of any style can be installed using the tile in approach.
